 AB De Villiers saves RCB again by his turbulent batting, when the match was turning towards Mumbai Indians.

Royal Challengers Bangalore beats Mumbai Indians by 2 wickets. RCB has started their campaign of 2021 with a victory. Mumbai Indians again loses their first game of the league. 

Mumbai had set a target of 160. From Mumbai side, Chris Lynn was the highest run scorer, who missed his half century by just 1 run. Surya Kumar Yadav was quite aggressive from the starting. He was sent off the IPL debutant Kyle Jamieson. 

Rohit Sharma(19), Ishan Kishan(28), Hardik Pandya(13) could not score big runs even after getting a good start.

Harshal Patel was the main reason for RCB bound the explosive team within 159. He picked five wickets, that were very important, as they came when MI was getting the momentum. Patel became the first bowler to take five wickets haul against Mumbai and also the third bowler for RCB to take the 5 wickets haul.

Washington Sundar and Virat Kohli opened the innings for RCB. Kohli was looking in quite good flow. Right from the beginning he put the pressure on MI bowlers. Rajat Patidar who was sent at 3 was unable to leave a mark in his debut match, as he went back for 8 runs.  

Glenn Maxwell who was looking quite dreadful was sent off by young Marco Jansen. Maxwell, who had not hi a single six from 2018 broke the streak on Friday by hitting the ball out of the stadium for a mssive 100m six.

AB came in at 5, as Maxwell was sent on 4. But he proved again that position does not depend, he cam pull out the match from any situation. The maestro hit 48 off just 27 balls that included 4 fours and 2 sixes.

In 17th over when RCB needed 38 and AB was left with the tail enders six wickets already fallen, Mumbai was quite ahead in the match. But AB’s massive hittings took the match away from MI.

Tw runs were needed from two deliveries when AB parted off due to a run out. Siraj and Harshal made the two runs without any trouble. 

Mumbai continued their ironical record of not winning the first match in the league. This is 8th time since 2013 that they have not won their first game. 

Harshal Patel names the ‘Man of the Match’ for his 5-27 and crucial match winning run of 4*(3).
